Teaching Philosophy

In my classes I strive to maintain a balance between technique, design, and personal imagination in the belief that only when this is accomplished can the individual’s creativity soar. The culmination of the term’s work is always the Final Thesis Project which, it is hoped, truly expresses the student’s personal sensibility. The project consists of ten master prints, a statement of intent, and a personal resume—all of which is duplicated in electronic form on a CD of their own design. The latter is given to anyone, such as a potential employer or graduate school adviser, who may be interested in the student’s future work. Produced at a high  level technically and creatively, the portfolio is meant to function as a practical tool of personal and career advancement.
