"Print-on-demand makes it feasible to use print in
situations where the economics of production and makeup rendered it
impractical in the past. This means a net gain in the use of print as a
conveyor of all types of information.
"With economy of scale no longer a consideration, a
document can have many lives in many variations of its basic form. A
printed piece will evolve as needed to speak to each intended audience.

for some print services was not possible before the technology became a
reality."
