NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL COMPETENCY TESTING INSTITUTE ( NOCTI )

Students in the Career and Technical Teacher Education program must satisfy the 30 credits of the content core requirement ( sometimes referred to as the occupational competency requirement ) in order to earn the bachelor's degree. The content core requirement may be satisfied in any of the following ways:

  • Passing the NOCTI performance and written tests in the relevant occupation:

    or
  • Completing at least 36 credit of college coursework at he associate or baccalaureate level in the relevant occupational specialty,

    or
  • Possessing an approved national or state license in the relavant ocupation ( for example, New York State (NYS) Registered Nursing (RN) license, NYS Dental Assisting license, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Plant licenses or the New York City regular teaching license in an occupational subject must have been issued prior June 1991.
